The history.

At the turn of the twentieth century, renowned botanist Baron von Mueller, best known for his contribution to the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne, planted hundreds of plants at what is now Sequoyah Retreat. This lush oasis boasts a diverse array of exotic trees, including maples, oaks, cedars, chestnuts, sequoia firs, and mountain ash, offering a glimpse into the botanical wonders from around the world. You'll find yourself immersed in a symphony of colours through autumn, and scents from exotic flowering plants in Spring. Every season of the year bringing it’s own beauty, including the light winter snow, which is known to fall most years during the coldest months.

But perhaps most awe-inspiring of all are the sequoia firs and 100-year-old mountain ash, their towering presence is a testament to the past. These majestic giants stand as guardians of the forest, their ancient roots anchoring the past to the present in a timeless embrace.

At the heart of this botanical paradise stands a rustic cabin. Built in 1890, this humble home has been lovingly restored for 11 months. Stepping into its cozy interior feels like entering a time capsule, where the echoes of history mingle with the tranquility of the present moment.
